Who was Georgia?
Jane "Georgia" Alexander Avary Hiemenz Barbour was a loving,
compassionate mother, wife, daughter and friend,
who with her death on June 8, 2006
left a gaping hole in the lives of those who loved her.

Georgia graduated from Randolph Women's College
and earned a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Virginia.

She was also a former member of the Peace Corps in Africa.

Despite her personal problems,
Georgia was a talented artist and photographer.

For twenty-six years she served as a volunteer docent
at the University of Virginia Art Museum
where she combined
her love of art and children.
